The world is a better place because the heat are losing
70the heatles?
Let me get this straight...
The Miami heat have fallen on hard times recently, and let me be the first to say, I don't care. In fact I hope the hard times continue. Dwayne Wade, Lebron James, and Chris Bosh decided that in the summer of 2010 that they would like to play together and change the NBA, for the best as far as they were concerned. As soon as Lebron took his talents to south beach, the off season was pretty much an on going party in Miami. There were public appearances, interviews, and promises of several championships. This made me dislike the heat. Lebron James saying that they were going to win seven consecutive championships and break 72 wins in a single season also made me dislike the heat. There were really several reasons for me to not like them, but stacking a team and being crowned NBA champions before a game was even played didn't do too much for other fans either.
So here we are, almost time for the playoffs and the heat are riding a losing streak, and surprise surprise, they are complaining about it, or possibly crying about it. Dwayne Wade said the heat are doing what everyone wanted them to do, lose. The world is a better place. His words, not mine, although I agree with that. Coach Spolstera even said several players were crying in the locker room. While I find it funny that grown men were crying after a game they blew, a coach should never tell the media what goes on in the locker room.
The heat have exactly one win over one of the top teams in the league, a Christmas day win over the Lakers. They haven't had much luck aside from that. The celtics are 3-0 against them. The bulls are 3-0 too. What can the heat possibly do? Honestly, I don't care. Lebron likes to give out clever names to his buddies, I.E. "the heatles." Perhaps he can come up with another clever name. Possibly about a team that was promoted as the greatest thing in town, and then just kind of fizzled or buckled under the pressure. How about heat seeking missals, because they often blow up at the end of games.
All hatred aside, there are a few noticeable problems I can see. First, they need to actually play team ball, I don't mean Lebron, Dwayne, and Chris taking 80% of the shots and letting everyone else fight over the rest. They also need to decide who is going to take the last shot. I watched a game where Chris Bosh took a 3 pointer to try to tie a game. Are you kidding me? Chris Bosh? The heat really need to try and get a half court defense going too. I know they like to run and gun, but that just isn't going to fly in today's NBA with teams like Boston and San Antonio around.
I think as a whole, the heat are a very talented team, but they have a lot of issues to deal with before the playoffs start. Three players are not a team, and it seems to me that a team, like the celtics or the bulls, who actually play team ball, will take out three superstars (I use the term lightly with bosh) any day. The bench must, must get better, or else the heat will get bounced in the first round. That is fine with me, but I'm not sure ESPN or all the other heat lovers will be all right. Maybe this will be a very good lesson to Lebron James. You are not a king. Don't run your mouth, it just makes you look arrogant. Hopefully this season will be a learning experience.
